Spend some time exploring central Tyria with your level 80. Concentrate on waypoints, hero points and mastery points. You may finish hearts when participating in an event, but don't obsess over them. If you find a heart that is tedious or irritating, by all means skip it. (You don't have to feed the cows if you don't want to.)
All hero challenges in HoT and PoF maps give 10 Hero Points. Both HoT and PoF have more than 25 Hero Challenges each, meaning that if you do all of them you will end up with excess hero points, on top of the 200 excess hero points from Core Tyria as the level-up rewards alone give you enough to max your core skills and traits.
If you boost to 80, grab your espec, and proceed to do all the 1-80 story youâll have plenty of time fighting easy enemies to learn what your skills do. If you also map complete (all hearts/poi/hero challenges/waypoints) core youâll have way more than enough time. Thatâs a pretty big task.
As for raids, you'll want to join a guild or find a discord group that does training runs for newbies, once you think you're up to the challenge. They'll accommodate you if you feel anxious and you need not worry as they'll teach you the ins and outs. A side note: GW2 really wasn't balanced for PvP.
That said, at 80 you'll have far more Hero Points than you need to buy everything - all traits, skills, and unlocks. So you only need to be careful how you spend Hero Points up till around level 45 or so, after which you start accumulating them faster and faster, and can splurge and experiment more. Yeah just spend all your points, by the time you hit level 80 with some map exploration, youâll have more than enough to finish your core game specializations, and if you have DLC it becomes even easier to get the hero points, on DLC maps the hero point locations are worth 10 points instead of 1

Elite specs only become unlockable at level 80. Leveling to 80 alone gives you enough points to fully unlock the core guardian class. Therefore any hero points you spend in the meantime, that you got from doing hero point challenges in the world, are essentially ârefundedâ by the time you reach level 80.
Playing through the story will also give you some Mastery Points.Note that the levels need different numbers of mastery points to unlock. Level 1 needs 1 point, level 2 needs 2 points and level 3 needs 3. For the other things you mentioned, the closest thing gw2 has to an elf race would be the sylvari.
